Bags, trolley and luggage story.
"Take only pictures....leave only footprints" - Unknown.
Well, travel is on my mind since a few days. Nah! I'm not the one who's traveling though, it's Mr. Hubby. But you know how it is, the atmosphere in the house changes all of a sudden. Instantaneously everyone's geography starts getting better. Maps and Atlas are dramatically in range of vision.
However the fun(?) part is packing. You won't believe if I said that Mr. Hubby had to leave at 8.00 p.m. and he started to pack at 5. "Arey Deva!"...yes, absolutely, that was my reaction too.
For a trip to my mom's place too I start packing 2 days prior. Few of my clothes and utilities are at mom's, yet. And its a travel within the state too.
For a girls trip if you ask, the packing starts a week earlier. Well, actually it starts with shopping, a week before that, depending upon the destination. Colour coordination or similar dresses, tees, mixing and matching, the gang has to be ready and armed, right?
When I was new mom, I remember watching tons of videos on packing. To travel with a baby for the first time and an international travel, things had to be in place. How to fold clothes to make more space, accomodating diapers, bottles, toys and what not, was a feat. So I had been watching these "How to pack light" videos on YouTube. Some said roll the tees and skirts and shorts. Some said buy dozens of pouches of various sizes and shapes. As if, 'long live Amazon', was my slogan, I ordered everything they said was 'essential', nevertheless, couldn't fit in all that was needed. And would end up adding one more trolley bag instead.
Mr. Hubby's mood is inversely proportional to the count of bags.
He himself prefers carrying a cabin bag, wherein he can fit all his belongings, for any kind of travel. "Who's going to wait endlessly near the conveyors after a hectic flight?" is his argument and I agree. But, so many competitive brands and designers are putting in hard work to make multifarious bags, trollies, in attractive hues and shapes. How can we waste their efforts by packing just a single handbag? And to save few hours by the conveyors, how do I compromise on the beautiful, elegant, colourful, stylish and glamorous variety of garments that I yearn to adorn each day of the tour? (Ah! And I forgot to mention the footwear that must be paired with every dress). Utterly nonsensical thing to do, no, not the pairing, but the packing in single bag!
For a local travel if I'm investing so much thought, energy and time, how can Mr. Hubby make do with such a slacking job.....Packing for an international tour of 10 days in an hour? And you know what he had so much space still left in his bag that he won't need to buy an extra handbag after shopping there too! Now this is too much for me to digest.
Don't take me wrong, I'm not sulking for how great his packing skills are, because I would never want to achieve something like that. For the reason that, when I'm traveling I don't want to travel light but travel right!
