Smile please!

"Please stand straight dear. Why do you always try to pose in some weird stance?", I yelled at my 10 year old.

Since he was a baby, he seldom liked being clicked. Well, for his single one's, he smiled or giggled, but for a family pic, he usually is seen crying or rubbing his eyes or looking down, customarily.

It was a big task to click a decent picture of four of us, even after he became a toddler. The elder one would gladly pose with a broad smile. But when one said 'Smile please' before clicking, this naughty youngster, without fail would jump, or pose into a dab covering his face or be a superman or spiderman or something or the other. In some photographs, he is literally swinging in air, I am actually holding him by his arms, just to make sure, he is in the frame.

Now that he is grown up a little bit, he tries to pose sometimes. But on some instances, he loses his cool just before being clicked and we can clearly see his angry face in all the photographs that follow.

If, on some blue moon day, all the planets are in sync, we get a reasonable family photograph.

Later, I found out that my younger son, was actively into selfies and videos. There,  happily he would smile, pout, click all profiles of him. And to my surprise all the pictures would turn out super. Videos that he shoots are full of creativity, scenic and the commentary in the background with all the text abbreviations that recent generations use, is exquisite. Still, I don't know what gets into him while taking a group photo.

But then the other day, I was declustering my phone's memory, deleting unwanted pictures from the gallery. And I discovered that there are so many group pictures where I am the photo-bomber of the group. In some my eyes are squinting or closed. In some I am gesturing something, in others looking off the lens, in some either trying to talk or laugh, which has made my mouth look weird and it's bizzare.

I smiled to myself and thought that, when I can't pose properly, how can I expect a kid to do the same.

They say A photograph is the pause button of life, I agree. You go back to that very moment. It's actually more fun to see such blooper filled pictures than the decent ones. The memories bring a huge grin on my face.

So 'Keep calm and pose on!'.
