School - The temple of knowledge. Part 2.

School life teaches us valuable lessons. Never cheat a friend, is one of them. Yes, you could help her cheat in exams, but to betray in friendship, absolute taboo. Treasuring friendships was what I learnt at my school. Be it patiently waiting outside her house while going to school, when she's not yet ready, or be it taking notes for her, when she's not keeping well.

When we talk about being faithful, it also rings a bell in terms of team spirit. The team sports that we played, taught us how to accommodate. Different temperaments, different ideas, variety of views, all blended well into a team. The rotation, in which partners on the benches would change, also made us mingle with all sorts of kids.

And when there are all sorts of kids present, some may be mischief mongers. Bullying, never do that. A major life lesson, that's the best take away of school days. Whenever we would come across any such act, we would surely rush to the victim's aid. Such incidents succour you through adult life, evidently.

Well, teasing or pranking was another thing though. Teasing certain boy with the name of the girl he liked or vice versa. Pranking teachers on the last day of school, so that she forgets it during the vacations (That was what we thought). And coming back after the break, as if nothing had happened. Some teachers would vividly remember the faces and saw to it that those students get punished. Teachers were very creative with their punishments too. Like, they asked to write essays, or run around the ground in multiple laps, or help the absent student by finishing his work, or water the plants in the school.

Creativity, certainly, a talent most kids pick up at school.

Writing for school newspapers, or making paintings for the exhibitions or science projects for science fest. All this gave a boost to all the creative geniuses. Those essays and stories my English teacher made me write are helping me even at this age, seemingly.

Keeping secrets was an aptitude I acquired at school. Zipping up your lips when it comes to friends' secrets, even if it means getting punished by teachers or scolded by parents. The seeds of friendship, ergo, sprouting and continuing to flourish and grow into a giant sequoia.

Giant sequoia reference, reminds me of the huge Gulmohor tree that was rooted deeply near our cycle stand, in school. There was a well besides it too.

This tree, with lush green leaves, and orange-yellow flowers was witness to numerous batches that passed through the school. It saw us fight and make up, rejoice and refute, dance and sing, mug up for exams and feel nervous before entering the exam hall. Kids being disciplined and reprimanded. It witnessed adolescent kids getting butterflies upon glancing at their crushes, also witnessed their love stories and breakups.

School days were the most carefree, stress free, amusing and enchanting for me. Whatever I've achieved until now, my school and teachers play an important role in it.

I could revisit those beautiful days, thanks to this opportunity Momspresso gave me today.

Oh Yes! Cara, I wish the same.
