How many more Mandeep kaurs?
It was heart wrenching, mind boggling, head blasting and what more adjectives do I use to describe this incidence that took place in New York on August 4th, 2022.
Mandeep kaur, age 30, committed suicide as she had been violently abused, by her husband Ranjhodbeer, for 8 years.
How many such Mandeep kaurs do you know, who are constantly pushed to take such drastic step and end their lives at young age?
I am not justifying suicide, absolutely no. But what's their offence you ask? They cannot deliver a son, who would be the heir of the family to carry on the name and status of the clan ahead.
Name? Status? At the cost of their daughter-in-laws' lives? What are they talking about?
When will these ignorant, heedless species know the science behind reproduction? Do we shout aloud and let them know that giving birth to a girl child doesn't depend on the mother, but, the father!
We should have a program, an awareness campaign from the Government itself in all the villages, towns, cities to let these oblivious people know the laws of Chromosomes.
But the above incident happened in New York. Ah! Well, the so called educated generation, working abroad is reluctant to cognize the truth too.
Which era are we living in? Men come home drunk and beat their wives as if it's their absolute duty to do so. Hitting someone who is inferior in strength to you, what kind of bravery is this?
The in-laws give a cold shoulder, to prevent their sons from appearing as villains. And the parents many a times ask their daughters to endure some more, ergo, their dignity remains intact.
We as neighbours shut our doors and windows so that the decibels reaching us are mellowed down. Why should we care? It's their personal problem! Isn't it a regular line you hear everywhere?
I know I am bombarding you readers with hundreds of questions here. I don't want anyone of you to answer me, but I want you to introspect and cogitate for your ownself, as to, where as a society are we going wrong?
We aren't bothered of the bumpy and potholes full of roads, we aren't bothered of illegal constructions happening everywhere, we don't want meddle when there's an accident on the road, we turn a blind eye when we see someone suffering.
We as a society are becoming inhumane.....are we? Think carefully what you can do to amend things!
The epic story of tomorrow can't be written if it ends today! ~ Unknown.
